Irene is a photographer based in Montreal, whose whimsical, mysterious, and thought provoking photos really drew me in when I first saw her work on flickr. A freelancer with an incredible eye for that one “moment”, her photos are really something. Check out her blog here!

Interesting Portrait Photography
This guy http://nathanielyoungphotography.com/ takes some really cool shots with odd perspectives, mostly of people doing normal things.
Daniel Rozin’s Magnificent Mirrors
Daniel Rozin is an interactive artist who works around the concept of mirrors, making many different pieces that reflect the work around them using shadows on tilting ‘pixels’. The videos below are demonstrations of my favorite two, but check out youtube for the many others.

Dark Artist: Danielle Tunstall
I found this artist today as I was perusing the interwebs, and I’ve posted a couple of my favorites from her website. Danielle Tunstall is a photographer/graphic artist who does a lot of horror and shocking portraits. If you visit her website and DON’T want to see anything that might give you nightmares, she has a section in her portfolio called ‘Unalarming Portraits‘. Otherwise, fair warning that some of her work can disturbing, and isn’t for everyone.
Grant Gunderson Photography
Grant Gunderson is a local Bellingham photographer who shoots a bunch of skiing and other outdoor sports. Of course he’s more on the action photography side of things, but I find much of his work quite inspiring, especially the image below. Here’s his website
Reading Response #2
I haven’t done much film photography before, so I learned a lot from the reading. It made many of the things we went over in class a little more clear. The sections on altering the contrast, exposure, and density of the photographs during development was very interesting. It’s always interesting to see how those things are done in the analog world. The section on photograms was interesting as well, I remember doing those as a kid in my Dad’s darkroom. Liquid photographic emulsion is also intriguing to me, I’d love to experiment with that.
“Fotoshop”

We watched this mock commercial for “Photoshop” in my media class today while exploring the implications technology has on our culture, especially through advertising and other media. So I thought I’d share it with you!
Reading assignment #1
OK…I hope Im doing this right and finally getting all caught up with everybody and reading your posts! I found this first reading assignment, likewise, helpful though a little overwhelming with all the technical terms to get straight. However, taking some notes and drawing a few little pictures to help me remember how the camera works and some techniques to try out totally helped me in the field…I felt more confident using my camera, and felt my eye was a little better informed.
Anna Szczekutowicz
Though I can’t begin to pronounce her last name, Anna Szczekutowicz is an amazing photographer I first found on flickr a few years back. Her command of lighting and subtle moments make her portraits so unique and interesting to look at. I really can’t say enough good things about her work, check her out on flickr!
