Newcastle Golf Course-Events/Weddings- Azzura photography

So I work at Newcastle Golf Course every summer and I really enjoy looking at the photography that Azzura does for weddings here. I think they always do such a nice job. This golf course is really popular, known for its elegance and the outstanding view of downtown seattle, downtown bellevue and lake washington. Sunsets here are breathtaking! check it out!

Seijin-shiki

In Japanese Culture, Seijin-shiki is the ‘Coming-of-Age Day.’ The Japanese cities and prefect offices invite all those who will reach twenty years old during the current school year to celebrate their passage into adulthood. The present day Seijin-Shiki has its roots in “Seinen Matsuri”, the youth festival held in Saitama prefecture. It was first practiced post World War II to encourage young people to have hope for bright futures despite the shrinking feeling and depression after the loss of the war.

Today, in the city on the day of Seijin-Shiki, you see many women wearing long sleeve Kimono called “Furi-sode”, meaning swinging sleeves. Men wear Mon-tuki Hakama, the Kimono of his family crest, and Hakama worn over Kimono, which is tied at the waist and falls to the ankles.

It is tradition that once you turn 20, you go and get dressed in these Kimonos and photographed. So here are my photos for when I turned 20!! Just wanted to share 🙂

David Gilliver’s “Light Painting”

“These psychedelic ‘light paintings’ look like
the sort of trippy visuals that might be experienced by those under the
influence of hallucinogenic
drugs. However, they are not the result of drugs – or
even computer wizardry or camera trickery – but a photographic technique called
long exposure .”

^^^This quote made me laugh.

The After Hour

Hey guys! So a really good friend of mine recently created his own website with all of his work on it. He shoots portraits, fashion, film…etc. You can view it at:

http://www.theafterhourphoto.com/

His name is Amir Zahed. He is a junior at UW. He’s also into music with two of his other friends. They have a CD and like to shoot music videos. One of their music videos is posted under ‘film’ titled “snow day” so if you’re interested in film production, I would check it out!
If you like his work, you can like it on facebook or twitter..
But yeah, he’s just another student who’s got a deep passion for photography and is gradually growing. I thought this could be inspirational 🙂
