Nick Sanchez, Director of Veteran Services
Nick is a Marine Corps veteran who works with the VSO staff to provide support for student veterans, military personnel and others receiving military benefits. Serving as a bridge between the Veterans Administration (VA), Department of Defense (DOD) and Western Washington University Nick seeks to create an inclusive environment focused on student development and educational success.

Manuel York, School Certifying Official
Manuel is a Marine Corps veteran and a WWU Alumni who is also working alongside the VSO staff to provide assistance to veteran students and their families in understanding the requirements needed to access the VA’s and DoD benefits at Western Washington University. He’s the Veteran Affairs Work Study’s (VAWS) Site Supervisor responsible for training VA work-study student’s personal and professional development.

Tyler Reed, School Certifying Official
Tyler is a former Army Medic who works with the VSO staff to provide support for student veterans, military personnel, and others receiving military benefits. As a School Certifying Officer (SCO) Tyler aids veteran student and their families in understanding the requirements needed to access the VA’s and DoD benefits at Western Washington University. Along with Manuel, he’s the Veteran Affairs Work Study’s (VAWS) Site Supervisor responsible for training VA work-study student’s personal and professional development.
