The 8th annual WWU QueerCon was an in-person event with hybrid in-person and remote panels and talks, as well as performances, games, film screenings, photo booth, two food trucks, and drag show. Our Keynote presentation featured Dizzy Phoria, a nonbinary drag artist leading an all-trans drag event in the Bellingham area.

We like to pride ourselves in being the biggest, gayest event on campus, and this year’s student-organized LGBTQIA2S+ art, comics, society, and media fan convention on Saturday, April 27 won the WWU AS award for best social event!

Hours for the all-ages convention hall and vending ran from noon – 5:00 pm. The 18+ after-hours events from 5 – 8 pm included drag show, planetarium show, and queer horror documentary screening and discussion. Learn more about our guests and schedule below:

Who are we?

QueerCon is organized by a group of dedicated queer people who want to create a space to celebrate queer and LGBT+ identity, creativity, and community.

The goal for WWU QueerCon is to provide an opportunity to highlight queer stories and creators in an inclusive and friendly space and strengthen the queer and LGBT+ community at WWU and the greater Bellingham area. The people behind this event strive to ensure that it is family-friendly and accessible to anyone who may want to join the fun.

WWU QueerCon features professional and student creators and exhibitors, offering all sorts of queer and geek-related items, as well as panels focusing on queer stories, experiences, and other LGBTQ+ topics.  Learn about our history here.

Are you interested in helping support an annual event centered on celebrating intersectional LGBTIA2S+ community and representation? We are currently looking for students at Western Washington University to join our QueerCon team for this year, and to help us keep this event going in the next year! This is a great involvement opportunity for students to foster leadership and event-organizing skills while helping to make a great event that supports the local community, students, and independent artists.
