Linguistics Club

We are a group of linguists and language enthusiasts who are working to give people a chance to connect with other linguists and have fun talking about linguistics! We are working to build a stronger, more connected community within the Linguistics Program and among its many related fields.

Chibi Yeti is a two-woman show based out of a tiny studio here in Bellingham, Washington that hand screen prints tees, and makes fun art of sexy men! They are a couple of creative nerds who love combining their skills to make the most amazing and wild they possibly can.

OrcaCon

OrcaCon is a tabletop games convention, which includes board and card games, role-playing games, and miniatures games. OrcaCon is focused on creating a safe and welcoming space for promoting the tabletop games hobby, supporting diversity in tabletop games, and building a community of both novice and experienced game players.

Natural 20 TTRPG Club (or Nat20) is dedicated to supporting D&D and other tabletop roleplay groups connected to WWU, including students, alumni, and local community members! Clockwork Dragon is a co-op of 4 PNW indie authors and associated co-authors. Between us we’ve published more than 60 books — mostly female-fronted science fiction and fantasy — taking pride in publishing diverse works, including a wide range of YA.

Craig Hurd-McKenney

In addition to writing for Fantagraphics, MTV and other publications, Craig Hurd-McKenney has been a teacher and currently works as a usability researcher. He is a Xeric Grant-awarded and Ignatz Award-nominated comic book writer/ publisher. Seattle, WA is home to Craig, his husbro and their three dogs, Lucy, Frannie and Agatha.

We are a club that thrives on the inclusion of all people in the performing arts. Over time, many of our members have come out or been out in the queer community. At Queercon, we are excited to talk about the influence of queer artists in theatre and music with anyone who’s interested. Planned Parenthood Generation Action

Planned Parenthood Generation Action is a network of young activists across the country who organize events on their campuses and in their communities to:
-Mobilize advocates for reproductive freedom
-Raise public awareness about reproductive health and rights
-Educate young people about sexual health
-Create lasting change in their communities

Queer Christian Club

Queer Christian Club (QCC) creates a space for the LGBTQIA+ community on campus to explore their faith in a judgment-free zone, and to create opportunities for students to meet other Christian/faith-questioning people and connect over LGBTQIA+ issues.

The Aeon Immortal is a literary and gaming universe featuring predominantly queer and trans protagonists, set in a fantasy-inspired future. Three novellas and previews of much more will be available, plus plenty of discussion about queerness, space magic, and giant alien snakes.

The purpose of Western Aces and Aros to provide a safe, inclusive space for those on the asexual or aromantic spectrum as well as those who support asexual and aromantic rights and social movements. M.A.D.-H.O.P.E. (Making A Difference – Helping Other People Everywhere)

Our youth suicide prevention program’s mission is to eliminate youth suicide by empowering school communities with opportunities for interpersonal connectedness, accurate information about youth suicide and practical tools designed to prevent it. Participants will learn tools to identify warning signs, communicate with compassion, and learn how to connect youth with support and resources.

I’m a black bisexual neurodiv woman who loves creating diverse fantasies more than anything else! I’m currently working on a webtoon called FAILS, focusing on the lives of college students going through a political revolution. There are characters from a myriad of cultures, ethnicities, gender identities, neurological conditions, physical conditions and sexualities, so no matter where you come from, there’s someone for everyone in this world (with some sweet powers too).

Among their friends, Ni is well known for loving tea, plants, and cats. If asked they would tell you their true passion is for narrative and stories of all sorts, though their favorite are the fantastical magical ones full of adventure and discovery. Yet they also love the mundane, and the joys you can discover in simple things. This is what inspires their art, along with a desire to represent diverse queer identities in said stories.

Physicists for Inclusion in STEM

Physicists for Inclusion in STEM (PhIS) is a student-led organization in Western’s Physics and Astronomy department. Our primary focuses are public outreach, providing support to undergraduate Physics and Astronomy students, and promoting inclusion and equity work in the Physics and Astronomy Department and the College of Science and Engineering (CSE).

Out In Science is a group of STEM students, faculty, and staff working for the promotion, inclusion, and support of the queer community in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. We do a lot of fun things during our meetings including game nights, movies/film screenings, craft nights, planetarium shows, and more! T.A.G. Team

T.A.G. Team for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Students is an open social space for transgender and gender non-conforming students and community members! We are a casual social group that meets weekly to relax in an environment with people who can understand and share our experiences. We also plan outings like hikes as well as educational events for non-trans folks. To protect everyone’s confidentiality, we do not disclose our meeting location to the public. A brand new locally run Bellingham Group for Mindful, Conscious Connections with other like-minded Lesbians, Bi-women, Pan-women etc… singles. Group MeetUps Will be (Always following up to date COVID guidelines, & will be hosted in public venues) for women to go out there, (options are slim for our local Queers) mingle, and get active in the LGBTQ+ community (Bham) and the surrounding area. Events that we attend as a group can range from Bars, Book Clubs, Drag Shows, Volunteering & Charity work, “TT” Talks (think ‘spillin’ the tea’, but also it stands for TRUTH, and Table). Our “Truth Table Talks” are topic-led discussions that are facilitated by a host from our group.
